Dear 7/8 Parents -
Yes, it is here! I know you can feel it...the smell of Fall is in the air, school has started and we are all getting back into routines (like it, or not). It also means it's time to start gearing up for Outdoor Ed! How fortunate are we that our 7th and 8th graders (boys and girls -- COS veterans and newbies alike) and their amazing teachers have this special opportunity to come together for three days and two nights (completely funded this year by OPTO!)? Very fortunate, indeed.
What we do need are some more parents to volunteer to not only make this happen, but to help it run smoothly. We have had a handful already sign up to drive carpool (one or both directions), and a few to agree to chaperone, but we need more.
As far as chaperoning goes, I can tell you from personal experience that it's really fun! It's a great way to get to know all the kids in a totally different setting and environment outside the classroom and without electronics. Likewise, driving carpool is equally enjoyable -- on the way TO camp, the kids are very excited and chatty, and on the way BACK they are exhausted and happy -- either way, you can't lose.
Please respond to me, Jennifer Wallach (Juliet, 8th) at email@example.com, with any questions and I will do my best to answer them. Also, anyone who has NOT yet turning in the permission forms for Camp Seymour, please do so ASAP. Thank you, so much, for being a part of this community!
See you on Thursday at the Parent Meeting.
