Hello Odyssey families,
Thank you to all who have signed up so far to volunteer in the classroom! We are off to a great start!
Please find attached the first draft of the Classroom Volunteering Schedule. I scheduled time slots according to the notes that you made on the yellow "2016-2017 Parent Volunteer Commitment" form, the sign up sheet from the ice cream social, or notes passed along to Colleen or I. Please review the schedule. If something was misunderstood or doesn't work for you, I am happy to revise it!
You will notice that there are many open slots, especially in the afternoons. We would love to support our great teachers and fill every time slot! If you see something that works for you please let me know.
Please note two unique opportunities-
Due to work, both Sophie Hill and Alyse Nelson, who are volunteering in the 3/4 and 5/6 clusters respectively, would like to share their shifts on an every other week basis. For Alyse she is looking for a sharing partner who can start as early as this Friday, the 9th and continue every other week from there on (the 23rd, Oct. 7, etc.)
A couple reminders-
Please do stop in at the school office when coming in to volunteer. There you can sign in and print out your name tag sticker for wearing. Michelle or Jennifer can usually help you if you are new to it or have an issue.
For parents new to volunteering in the classroom we invite you to come in and simply observe these first couple of weeks before the classroom training that happens on the 21st- excerpt from Colleen's email-
"please save the date for *Wednesday, September 21st, 7pm* when we will be holding a Classroom Volunteer Training for all new parents who wish to volunteer in the classroom, as well as experienced parents who want a refresher. It is especially recommended for 1/2 parents who will be helping with reading, as Anne would like to go over some information and instructions on how volunteers can help our youngest readers."
